A Nigerian presidential air force plane has just departed Sierra Leone with former president Koroma
A Nigerian presidential Air Force plane has just departed the Freetown international airport carrying the former Sierra Leone president, Ernest Bai Koroma. He was released by a high court on Wednesday to travel to Nigeria for medical reasons. He faces a four-count treason charge for his alleged involvement in the November failed coup. He vehemently denies the allegations. His case was adjourned to 6 March when he’s expected back. But it comes amid fevered speculation that the regional body, ECOWAS, has reached a deal to allow him to relocate to Nigeria.
