The Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr received new UN resident coordinator

It was a real pleasure to receive Mdme Seraphine Wakana, the new #UN #ResidentCoordinator at Freetown City Council today. We had an engaging discussion about the challenges that #Freetown faces and how the #TransformFreetown plan seeks to address these. I am looking forward to deepening our collaboration with #UN agencies as we continue the journey to #TransformFreetown.

EPA takes part in the ECOWAS coordination meeting on protected areas

The Environment Protection Agency participates in the ECOWAS Coordination Meeting on Expanding and Strengthening Protected Areas at the Johnwood Hotel in Attendees included Protected Areas Management Authorities, Focal Points, and ECOWAS Member Countries to the Convention on Biological Diversity, as well as experts from the United Nations Development Programme, Food and Agriculture Organization, USAID-WABILED, High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, GEF, CBD-Secretariat, and IUCN. The Coordination Meeting aligns with the implementation of the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework that was adopted in December 2022 by parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). EPA up date parliamentary committee on environment and climate change

EPA organizes two-day consultative engagements with the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Climate Change, and the Focal Points of Biodiversity Conservation, Climate Change, Pollution, and Chemical Conventions and relevant institutions on the review of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) 2017-2026 to align with the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) that was adopted in December 2022, in Montreal, Canada.
