Minister of Information and Civic Education Chernor Abdulai Bah has visited his people in Jimmi Bagbo. During his visit, he met and spent time with various community leaders, inspected ongoing and potential projects, and distributed rice and assorted items to his people, especially the Muslim Jamaat. He also joined the Chiefdom Imam and the other elders for prayers and Iftar at the Central Mosque in Bagbo Chiefdom, Bo District.
Minister Chernor Bah (Cee Bah) made his first stop at the residence of his uncle, the Paramount Chief of Bagbo Chiefdom, PC Sesay Koker, to pay respects and express personal condolences on the recent passing of the late Madam Mariama Ofine Koker, wife of the chief. The minister, who had sent a delegation to the funeral rites since he was out of the country, said he had to come to see his uncle and spend time with him and the rest of the family to offer his personal support and solidarity with his people.
Minister Bah’s next stop was at the Government Girls Secondary School in Jimmi, which the community leaders had decided to rename the Fatima Bio High School for Girls. He commended the school's decision to be renamed after the illustrious First Lady and pledged his support as a feminist and a son of the soil to the all-girls school. The Principal, Madam Christiana Gindeh, thanked the Minister for his unwavering support during challenging times and shared the major issues that the school currently faces. The principal was joined by other education and community leaders in the chiefdom including the principals of the Jimmi Boys School, and the Sumbuya Secondary School, chiefs, elders, and other stakeholders.
The high point was probably when the young Minister visited his grandmother’s and family home at “Ngeiya” in Jimmi. Throngs of his close relatives were clad in Ashobi serenading the minister with a joyous welcome. He visited his late grandmother, Sallay Jamanya Blake’s grave and offered prayers. Additionally, he inspected the proposed site for the Sierra Leone People’s Party office in Jimmi, assuring his commitment to collaborate with stakeholders to successfully realize the construction project.
As part of this visit, the Minister made various food and other assorted items donations to the Muslim Jamaat and the youth groups. To crown the visit, Minister Bah performed evening prayers at the Bagbo Centre Mosque in Jimmi before he retired to the residence of his uncle and former Vice President of Sierra Leone, Victor Bockarie Foh in Limba Bagbo. He continued to meet with various stakeholders well into the night.
